VERSION 6.12

Drivers

An error in active area sizes for Numonics USB digitizers has been fixed.

Tablet Manager

An incompatibility with Internet Explorer 7 resulting in an error message referencing PSAPI.DLL has been fixed.

Setup

An error when running VTI32.EXE on certain NT machines which resulted in an error referencing AUTOEXEC.NT has been fixed.

Drivers

A resolution problem in ALTEK/NovaPro 144"x60" digitizers has been fixed.

Support for Numonics 2210 and AccuGrid USB digitizers has been added.

Support for Kurta XGT 4x5 digitizer has been added.

Support for Summagraphics Summagrid VI and VII digitizers has been added.

Support for CalComp DrawingBoard IV and V digitizers has been added.

Support for GTCO AccuTab II digitizers has been added.

Wintab Compatibility

A problem with coordinate roll-over on very large tablets has been fixed.

Tablet Manager

A problem with logical button states in Status Tab has been fixed.

Template Editor

Inflation now saved and restored when breaking/recombining combinations.

Drivers

Support for ARISTO Graphic Systeme ARISTOTAB, ARISTOGRID, ARISTOhiGRID and ARISTOproGRID digitizers has been added.

Support for ALTEK 54"x90" and 54"x120" digitizers has been added.

Drivers

Support for GTCO Super L III 3036, Super L IV and Rollup III digitizers has been added.

Support for Numonics BidMate, AccuGrid III and GraphicMaster II series has been added, in addition to AccuGrid 1212 and 1217 sizes.

Drivers

Support for Genius NewSketch tablets has been added.

Overall response time and smoothness in Windows NT/2000/XP has been improved.

Wintab Compatibility

The Force Dual Monitor Support option is now automatically ignored on single monitor systems.

Tablet Manager

Pending registrations are now maintained across minor upgrades while awaiting authorization codes.

VERSION 6.06

Drivers

Kurta IS/One button mapping for a 12 button puck has been fixed.

Failed to Load” error for portables and USB serial port adapters has been fixed.

Windows NT4, 2000 and XP desktop cursor movement has been smoothed.

Wintab Compatibility

Win32 application contexts have been increased from 12 to 16.

Managers supported have been increased from 1 to 3.

Coordinate accuracy has been improved.

Relative cursor movement in a system context has been improved.

Tablet Manager

Desktop utility applications without a user-interface no longer appear in the task list, e.g. certain screen saver programs.

Drivers

"Subsystem Failed to Load" errors on certain XP/NT configurations has been fixed.

Wintab Compatibility

A new default option "Force Wintab Multiple Monitor Support" has been added for older applications that do not support multiple monitors.

Tablet Manager

A Manager Option "Force Wintab Multiple Monitor Support" has been added for older Wintab compatible applications that do not support multiple monitors.

VERSION 6.04

Drivers

Support has been added for the Houston Instruments True Grid 1000 Series digitizers.

Template Editor

A problem with keystroke and command fields in the Region Properties dialog in which they would not display has been fixed.

VERSION 6.03

(April 25, 2002)

Drivers

Support has been added for GTCO Supper L III Series digitizers.

Contention now disables the digitizer while a mouse is being used until the digitizer is moved (new) or any button released.

Tablet Manager

The contention state (active or inactive) has been added to the Status Tab.

A new Manager option titled “Ignore Wintab Contention Unless Locked” has been added which governs whether a Wintab compatible application will inherit contention fro the Default Tablet.

A new popup menu for common extra key combinations has been added to the Auxiliary section of the Stylus Tab.

Wintab Compatibility

Contention is now ignored for Wintab applications unless locked or the respective option in the Tablet Manager is disabled.

The Virtual Tablet Interface is now fully compatible with Anvil-1000MD by IDC (requires update from IDC).

VERSION 6.02

(March 29, 2002)

Drivers

An issue under Windows NT/2000/XP that could cause the error messages “Subsystem Failed to Load” and “Invalid Com Port” on startup has been fixed.

Tablet Manager

Due to changes to the website layout, automatic software updating for versions 6.00 and 6.01 will no longer work correctly. This version should be manually downloaded instead and will work with future releases of the product.

Automatic software updating errors are now more detailed as to the source of the error.

Task properties for each application in the Task List now includes whether the application is Wintab compatible.

Documentation

Steps to configuring AutoCAD with Visual Tablet and the Virtual Tablet Interface have been documented (see Common Problems for details).

Dipswitch settings for ALTEK controllers have been documented (see DIGITIZE.TXT for details).

Setup and Registration

General protection faults from Setup under Windows 3.1 have been fixed.

Errors in entering Authorization codes are now more detailed as to the source of the error.

Tablet Manager

Information for each application task in the task list now appearing as a tool tip includes the file name, product name, product version, target Windows platform and task properties.

Wintab Compatibility

Clipping and cropping areas, along with positioning, are no longer inherited from the Default Tablet unless they are specifically set for an application or their respective options in the Tablet Manager are unchecked. This is a reversion back to Version 5.XX compatibility.

Compatibility with Visual Tablet by Zak Morris Co. has been improved.

Registration

An issue that could prevent entering authorization codes has been fixed.

VERSION 6.00

General Improvements

Operating system support has been added for Windows XP (NT).

Most user-interface features have been improved for the casual or first-time user via configurable options in the Tablet Manager.

Support for Microsoft’s Pen Windows has been dropped and Windows 3.1 executables are available on diskette by request only.

Device Drivers

Support for audible button output to external (versus only internal) speakers has been added.

Support for multiple pressure gradients (linear, parabolic and hyperbolic) has been added.

Wintab Compatibility

Clipping and cropping areas, along with positioning, are now inherited from the Default Tablet unless they are specifically set for an application or their respective options in the Tablet Manager are unchecked. Previously, Default clipping, cropping and positioning were ignored for Wintab compatible applications unless they were locked in the Locking Tab. This may require a one-time change for users used to the previous inheritance rules.

Tablet Manager

Selectable audible output to external (versus only internal) speakers has been added to the Button Tab.

An option to display either numeric (“0-F”) or alphanumeric (“one-sixteen”) button names has been added to the Manager Tab.

Automatic software updating (checks for updates daily, weekly, monthly or manually) has been added and requires Internet Explorer 5 or higher.

An option for constraining the clipping area to match the digitizer's aspect ratio has been added to the Coordinate Tab.

An option for constraining the cropping area to match the match display's aspect ratio has been added.

Device configuration notes have been added to the Device Tab and appear as tool tips whenever selecting a device.

A simpler button-masking interface is now the default. Buttons are masked as complete events (i.e. button click, button double-click) versus the previous and more advanced interface which required setting both the up and down events for each button. An option for using either button-masking interface has been added to the Manager Tab.

An option for ignoring Wintab compatible application clipping areas (i.e. inherited from the Default Tablet) unless they are locked has been added to the Manager Tab.

An option for ignoring Wintab compatible application cropping areas (i.e. inherited from the Default Tablet) unless they are locked has been added to the Manager Tab.

An option for ignoring Wintab compatible application positioning (i.e. inherited from the Default Tablet) unless they are locked has been added to the Manager Tab.

An option for using a timer to detect application and tablet task switches has been added to the Manager Tab for compatibility with certain applications.

An option to automatically reset the tablet after waking from Windows system sleep mode has been added to the Manager Tab.

Support for multiple pressure gradients (linear, parabolic and hyperbolic) has been added to the Stylus Tab.

Right clicking on the Manager’s icon in the system tray now brings up a context-sensitive menu including: “Open Manager”, “Use Defaults”, “Load/Edit Template”, “Register” and “Exit Manager.”

Information for each application task in the task list now appears as a tool tip and includes the file name, product name, product version and target Windows platform.

Template Editor

Size fields (width and height) have been added to the Region Properties dialog that also allows you to exactly size multiple region selections.

The font name is now saved with, and restored from, style sheets.

A region menu item field has been added to the Region Properties dialog that allows you to specify a numerical token passed to applications as a menu item.

You can now specify combination Inflation methods: None, Automatic, Fixed Percent (new) or Fixed Distance (new) on a per combination basis.

Combination selection methods have been improved to avoid accidental region creation.

Template Support

Support for passing region tokens to applications as menu items has been added. This is intended primarily for developers and advanced template users.

The Virtual Tablet Interface now supports a template delay (250 ms) macro that allows you to time input to an application. The new macro is “!”.

Setup and Registration

A Browse button has been added to the Setup Files dialog for specifying a target directory location for the product other than the default (C:\Program Files\Virtual Tablet).

Setup now searches for Wintab compatible files from other manufacturers and reports them if found giving you a chance to stop installation of the product until these other drivers are removed.

Device configuration notes have been added to the Device Drivers dialog and appear as tool tips whenever selecting a device.

Setup now automatically creates a desktop shortcut for Tablet Manager.

Setup now automatically creates a web shortcut and icon for Internet Explorer.

Shell handling for creating and deleting program shortcuts and folders has been improved.

A new opening explanatory dialog for online registrations has been added which provides a greater overview of the process and steps required to register online.

An option to specify either an authorization code or shipped diskettes has been added to the registration dialog for purchasing the product.

Encryption of email orders has been enhanced to a 128-bit encryption method.
